I love the new website! I am missing you very much. My life is different without the weekly sangha evenings. But one must do what one must do.

This is a way cool site. Of course it was put up for my sister's meditation group, so I'm prejudiced. Fine as frog's hair split two ways. And good looking, too.

A secret about the “C-Word” on April 11:
Yes, it’s a Cancer story- in which life meets art. It was while performing the role of the cancer patient in the Pulitzer prizewinning play “Wit” that I was diagnosed with cancer myself. Playwright Margaret Edson encouraged & helped me to write “what was true for me” in monolog form in 2001, & Sara Jenkins has helped me develop it further along the way.

The secret is that the really important C-word turns out to be Compassion (revealed at the end of the monolog), but I want to tell you ahead of time. It’s one of the reasons I’m so happy that this event will benefit both Cloud Cottage (which led me to 2 retreats with Thich Nhat Hanh - the very embodiment of Compassion) & another compassion-focused group, namely Hospice, (I received volunteer training in Haywood County.) These 2 communities are highly valued by me. I hope April 11 will indeed be of great benefit to all concerned!

To Two of My First Poet Friends,

A beautiful web site and snapshot (or two or three) of your life at Cloud Cottage Community. I hope it is my good fortune to visit you there sometime. Also, sometime I would like to know more of the background behind "Murder as a Call to Love." Love always...

Your friend,

Barry

My dear friends...the poetry, the prose, the prayers, they all call to my heart in the same way our conversations always did as we sat in your kitchen in New Hope so many years ago. I celebrate with you today! Your love ripples out across miles, time, soundwaves, breaths. May each breath bring joy and each joy bring breath. George and I love you both!

I can't believe what you guys have done with this website, with your meditation practice, and with your lives. This looks like such a wonderful sangha! You can support one another in everything, yes? And the beauty of the Cottage and Dharma Hall. Wow. Hope to visit you soon. Can I stay in the tea-room?

Dear Judith and Philip,

Thank you for a wonderful retreat in Ireland. I had a fantastic time a transformed some of my personal suffering over the weekend. It wasa combination of all the elements including the laughter of the four children. I feel that my emotional footprint will be lighter on the universe and those people that I spend time with.
The boys Andrew and Liam, shared the pebble meditation with their 3 year old sister this morning. We all enjoyed the teachings from the boys. Please feel free to add this to your blog if you see fit. Veronica heads back to Belfast and I to sligo today. Martina stays with her family. Thank you

Hi, I am visiting family in Asheville from Nov. 21-28 (Thanskgiving holiday). I am in a meditation group in Phx. and have been to an TNH retreat in Estes Park - he is my most important spiritual guide. Will you be open and have activities during the time I am there, including the Wed. night event?

Dear Philip and Judith,

Firstly, thank you both for your support of Irish Sangha events and retreats so far.

I am in the process of establishing an Order of inter-being aspirants sangha in Ireland, can you offer any advice.

I understand that you are already busy in your life and practice, even if you could point us in the right direction, that would be a great help.

Thank you so much

Martin

and a copy of letter sent to Sanghas in Ireland

Dear Friends,

I had a wonderful 2 weeks a the European Institute of applied Buddhism, http://eiab.eu/. It is well worth a visit if you have the time and the energy. Im heading back for most of January. I feel very lucky. I understand it is different from Plum Village. I also understand that Thay will spend some time there each year from now on. I received the 5 wonderful mindfulness training's whist there and the Dharma name, loving protection of the heart, a name to live into and guide my life and practice.

I am writing to let you know that I am looking at setting up a order of inter-being aspirant sangha for the whole of ireland. If you are interested in this please get back to me and together we will make this possibility available for ourselves and others. As i know this path (the order of inter-being) is not everyones cup of tea, yet some people feel drawn to this way, so we will explore it. If you are not interested, we will keep you in the loop through the blog on the mindfulness ireland home page http://mindfulnessirelandnews.blogspot.com/

If you are interested, contact me directly to express your interest and any ideas you may have. Please do not send replies to whole group, I will summaries all ideas and expressions of interest and send an email then to the people that have expressed interest.

For information on the order of interbeing http://www.orderofinterbeing.org/mentoring.html

Thanks for your time. I look forward to hearing from you,

a lotus to you, a buddha to be

I started this post thinking I was a newbie to Buddhism. Then I accidentally erased my post and when I began again I realized I have always been Buddhist. When I first began my studies, I never had an AHA! moment. I thought as I read, "This is how we should all live our lives. For others." I have been accused of being a doormat. I have been told that people "run all over me". I have never felt that way. I feel that if I help someone I have done what I should. I am a nurse. Not by choice, but as a calling. Now I know why. I have found so much peace in impermanace. It has taught me to live and love better. I am not sure what has guided me to your site or why I have felt the need to give you this information. I want to find community. I want a guide. My practice is so green. Meditation frightens me. How can I be still? I will figure it out. Thanks for being here, now.
